Dear Chinese Media: Americans Don't Hate You, We Just Can't Find You on a Map

Dear Chinese Media: Americans Don't Hate You, We Just Can't Find You on a Map

An open letter to those overthinking our relationship.

Dear Chinese media,
We understand that recently, you've been especially sensitive about U.S. coverage of China. First, there were those investigative reports in Bloomberg and the New York Times in June and October 2012 revealing hidden financial assets of the relatives of important Chinese leaders; those news sites are now blocked in China. Then there was that secretive Communist Party directive, which declared in April 2013 that "hostile Western forces" were "infiltrating the ideological sphere." Since that document was leaked (by a Chinese journalist later jailed for the offense), China has seen a noted uptick in state media-led efforts fanning the flames of Chinese popular resentment towards the United States and other Western nations, with the state-run Global Times most recently accusing the New York Times, in a June 24 editorial, of being "biased" and "spreading the China threat theory."
Chinese state media fell yet further down the analytical rabbit hole in an August 6 report in party mouthpiece People's Daily. In a dispatch from San Francisco, a Chinese reporter interviewed 20 Americans to see how much they knew about an unfolding Chinese food safety scandal, one in which Shanghai Husi, the American-owned supplier of McDonald's, KFC, and other foreign-owned restaurants allegedly sold expired meat products to the fast food chains prolific in Chinese cities. Of the 20 people interviewed, according to the report, only three had heard of the Shanghai Husi food scandal. Of those three, the article added, not a single one knew that Shanghai Husi is actually owned by a U.S. company.
Somewhat incredibly, the article blamed selective U.S. reporting for this misunderstanding, accusing U.S. news outlets of purposefully hiding the fact that it was a U.S. company at the root of the trouble, and concluded that "this is yet another example of U.S. media misleading the American people...and it most certainly won't be the last." Or, it could be because the company in question is called Shanghai Husi -- it doesn't exactly hit the ear like "Jimmy Dean."
Chinese media, we in the United States are sympathetic to the difficulty you may experience -- coming from a country where the heavy hand of government exerts increasingly tight control of the media environment and where even posting a "rumor" on social media can get you arrested -- in fully grasping the freewheeling nature of U.S. journalism and public discourse.
But please understand that U.S. media outlets aren't engaged in a top-down conspiracy to smear you. Some Americans struggle even to locate your country on a map, much less appear well-versed in the nuances of a food scandal unfolding on the other side of the globe. At least we are, by and large, a self-aware bunch. The People's Daily reporter who surveyed hapless San Franciscans is perhaps unfamiliar with American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel's "man on the street" interviews, the most recent example of a televised bit that mocks this characteristic. Popular highlights from Kimmel include Americans offering sincere condolences upon being told that (long-dead) President Franklin D. Roosevelt had just passed away, and earnest attempts to analyze President Obama's (apocryphal) nomination of TV land's Judge Judy to serve on the Supreme Court. Yet
American ignorance of our own history pales in comparison to our collective ignorance of the rest of the world, profound enough in some cases to border on disregard.
American ignorance of our own history pales in comparison to our collective ignorance of the rest of the world, profound enough in some cases to border on disregard. Once on a domestic flight heading to Los Angeles for a layover to China, this author's seatmate, an American, asked whether China or Japan were bigger. He wasn't being metaphorical. That doesn't mean our media gets it right every time. In an October 2013 report about giant killer hornets in China, Atlanta-based CNN -- cable news providers reaching 98 million American households -- placed Hong Kong on the east coast of South America, somewhere around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In a widely circulated (and mirthfully ridiculed) April 2014 article called "The Ten Days in China That Shook Me," American Chris Matthews, host of New York-based MSNBC's talk show "Hardball," breathlessly chronicled his first trip to the world's most populous country. Matthews was shocked to find that China doesn't resemble the boxy industrial monochrome of the Iron Curtain-era Soviet bloc, even though China's economic rise and showy development were old news here by 2008, when Beijing's gauzy splendor was televised to a global audience. Matthews also marveled that Guangzhou, "a city I had never heard of," has more people than New York City. (Guangzhou, one of China's most prosperous cities, has been a major international trade hub for over 150 years.)
In conclusion, Chinese media, we ask that you not overthink this whole thing. American media has neither the inclination nor, frankly, the resources to engage in a coordinated, Machiavellian plot to besmirch you. And for better or worse, most Americans just don't spend that much time thinking about your country. The next time you find yourself concerned over our reporting, just remember: Many Americans have a notoriously hazy grasp on the nuances of their own country's affairs. Don't be too alarmed when they don't know much about yours.

A letter from a major fired by the US Army

The Best Defense

A letter from a major fired by the Army

This letter arrived this morning. I am running it with the author's permission:
My name is Major Charles V. Slider III and I am currently stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. I am an African-American armor officer, proud father, and husband and graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. I was selected for the recently convened Officer Separation Boards for the Department of the Army for a mistake over eight years ago. The mistake was a DUI in which I received a General Officer Memorandum for Record in 2006. Since this incident, I strived for excellence in every job that I performed.
I trained soldiers for deployments to Iraq as part of the surge into theater from 2006-2008. From 2008-2011, I attended and completed Ranger School, Air Assault School and earned the Expert Infantryman Badge. I commanded troops in combat in Afghanistan where I earned the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Purple Heart for actions against a determined enemy in RC East. After the deployment, I was selected as the executive officer for the deputy commander for the Combined Arms Center of Training at Fort Leavenworth serving in the capacity as the daily assistant for a general officer. The following year I was selected among a field of majors to attend the Commanding General and Staff Officer College at Fort Leavenworth, as well as the school of advanced military studies. Both prestigious institutes serve as the educational nexus for field-grade officers. Upon graduating from SAMS in May 2014, I was notified that I would not receive an assignment due to being assessed as high risk the GOMAR in my restricted file.
On August 1, I was notified of my removal from active duty service. Although I accept this fate, this is not justifiable due to the sacrifices that both my family and I have endured.

As a resident ILE/SAMS graduate, my interpretation of this entire process is that it involved no critical thinking about the types of officers maintained in the current military structure. In certain cases, specific skills, attributes, and character traits are required in order to provide a balance of the warrior scholar. To this end the board process chose individuals for elimination that met all of the requirements, but possessed one black mark. Instead of using judgment and common sense in determining the number of officers required for service, an arbitrary number was provided. This created a system in which officers were selected based on a mistake rather than their overall contribution to the Army. One lapse in judgment does not constitute a pattern of misconduct, nor a judgment of overall character. These types of decisions knee-jerk reactions within the Army have the potential to erode trust within the lower ranks.
As an officer, I believe that we should be judged on our body of work, not one isolated incident. Furthermore, this act to remove me from service serves as a blunt example of how stoic and regimented the board process is as a system. As a Purple Heart recipient and proud member of the service, my family and I have given the Army our never-ending faith and commitment. However, the Army has seen it fit to remove my services as an officer from its ranks. Although the details of the board instructions will remain hidden, this also serves as ironclad proof that these awards are merely a method to provide credibility to a force that has integrity issues and morally barren for true sacrifices. This letter is an attempt to highlight the issues residing within an unfair system and to provide context to others within the system. As a combat veteran of two theaters, Iraq and Afghanistan, I do not expect to be treated differently or to receive any sort of pat on the back. However, my actions after 2006 prove my family's enduring faith to an ever-evolving conflict and requirements to serve. I have served this great nation with distinction and honor and deserve a valid explanation of why its leaders choose to remove my services from the American people. I accomplished every mission presented to and went above and beyond what is expected of an Army officer. I hope that this letter finds you in good faith.

Very respectfully,
MAJ Charles V. Slider

Who gives a shit? The Honey Badgers! A nice piece by Avay Shukla.

 Bhupi....thanks !

I retired from the government in 2010 after having rendered 35 years of dubious service to the public, and settled down in a cottage in the midst of thick forests near Mashobra, about twenty kilometers from Shimla.
This area being even colder than Shimla I had no T shirts, so when I had to suddenly move to a different kind of jungle called New Delhi I was (what would today be described as) sartorially challenged.
My younger son gifted me a T shirt: it had a picture of an intense looking honey badger on the chest with the caption in bold letters: DON’T GIVE A SHIT!
Now, honey badgers belong to the raccoon family and are about the same size.
Care a shit
They are utterly fearless and have been known to make even leopards back off: they will eat anything and can consume twenty five percent of their body weight at one sitting; no sensible animal will tangle with a honey badger, at least not a second time!
Therefore the caption on the T shirt was spot on – the honey badger doesn’t give a shit about anyone or anything. In short, it has an ATTITUDE.
Honey Badger challenges a lion - Photo by Mercury Press & Media Ltd
Honey Badger challenges a lion – Photo by Mercury Press & Media Ltd
Thirty five years in government had made one cautious and conservative in expression: bureaucrats never call a shit – ‘shit’, we leave that to the armed forces.
Therefore, I was a bit non-pulsed with the T shirt’s assertive caption and, hoping that the courage to wear it would devolve in the fullness of time, I locked it away along with my Aam Aadmi cap and the faded photo of myself as the seventh dwarf in a rendition of Snowwhite and the Seven Dwarfs we had put up in nursery school many decades ago.
You get the drift: all three were meaningful objects, but required a certain boldness, a nonchalance, a sangfroid to be able to exhibit in public, which I lacked.
However, you can lock away a honey badger T shirt (or an Aam Aadmi cap) but you can’t forget it. So the longer I stayed in Delhi, the more it weighed on my mind.
There was a niggling feeling at the back of my  medulla oblongata that I was missing something, that there was some message embedded in the badger’s attitude, a De Vinci type of code, if you will.
Try as I might, my mind weakened by years of perusing the gibberish contained in government files, couldn’t grasp it.
And then one day, standing outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, I had my Eureka moment.
File Photo: Patients living in a toilet outside AIIMS
File Photo: Patients living in a toilet outside AIIMS
All around me the pavements were swarming with families of patients going about their daily chores – cooking, washing, defecating, breast-feeding – while waiting for their turn in this Mecca of medical salvation.
There was no other accommodation available for these people who had come from all over India. The nearby bus shelters and under-passes were also full of them.
The temperature was at least 40 degrees. Nobody gave this miserable flotsam of humanity a second glance.
Around them the BMWs and Audis, the red beaconed VIP cars whizzed past, their occupants – both corporate and governmental – planning how to make India a superpower; a huge swathe of area had been cleared of all traffic and people because Mr. Amar Singh had arrived to be lodged (naturally) in one of the VIP wards (his kidneys having given up after years of his wheeling and dealing), the hawkers plied their trade, the policemen and parking attendants went about their extortion openly, the luckier patients who had been able to see an AIIMS doctor (a mythological creature like Bigfoot or the Yeti for most of those on the pavements) lining up in hordes at the dozens of medical shops selling what the hospital should have been providing, or perhaps what the hospital HAD provided!
No one even glanced at the mass of forgotten humanity on the pavements.
In that instant the code was cracked! NOBODY GAVE A SHIT. The average Delhi-ite was a honey badger!
Sheila DixitStart from the top of the ordurous heap that is Delhi and you will see what I mean.
The politician is so comfortably cocooned in his LOOTyen’s Delhi that he doesn’t give a shit how people survive outside it.
How, for example, can we legitimately expect Mrs. Shiela Dikshit to give a shit (no pun intended) about power cuts in Trilokpuri, for example, when her own mansion is cooled by 31 air-conditioners and 15 coolers at government expense (a recent report in the Hindustan Times)?
The bureaucrat doesn’t give a shit about anything because he gets priority in school admissions, hospitals, rail reservations; subsidised housing and transport, membership of the Delhi Golf Club; and can drink himself silly on subsidised booze at Gymkhana.
The captains of industry don’t give a shit because they live on Aurangzeb Road in houses financed by loans from banks (read you and I) which are subsequently written off as non-performing assets (don’t miss the distinctly sexual connotation here – and you thought that bankers don’t have a sense of humour?!), spend most of their waking hours rubbing shoulders and exchanging notes (pun intended) with the commissars of government, and take their annual vacations in Davos.
And so it is down the food chain. The police don’t give a shit because they have turned the rule of accountability on its head: having acquired their postings by dint of loyal service to politicians or by spreading the shekels among their superiors, the latter are now accountable to THEM!
Likewise the municipal employees. Others – lawyers, doctors, autorickshaw wallahs, transport employees – have such a pernicious and all-pervasive nuisance value – that they don’t have to give a shit about anyone, be it the courts, the government or the general public.
No one gives a damn about the environment – not the Forest Department which sees its primary role as giving permissions for felling of thousands of trees every year, not the PWD whose sole mission is to destroy the Ridge as soon as possible, not the DDA or Jal Board which cannot distinguish between a river and a sewer line, not the builders pumping millions of litres of under groundwater without any approvals.
The alpha male of these badgers, however, has to be the Delhi motorist.
His aggression, single minded objective of running over anything in his path, refusal to give way to ambulances and fire engines, propensity to shoot other motorists, contempt for rules and traffic policemen – all indicate that this sub species is still evolving and may one day take over the whole city.
At the bottom of the food chain are the people who GET all the shit: the humble, ordinary folks going about their daily chore of just surviving in this jungle.
But sometimes, say once in two or three years when they are pushed to the wall, they revolt and attack in true badger style. On such rare occasions they too don’t give a shit – burning buses and police vehicles, facing water cannons, clashing with police, shutting down large parts of this dung heap. The latest such incident was in December 2012.
And so Delhi is now the most polluted city in the world.
Of all Indian cities it has the highest number of cases of sexual molestation, rape and car thefts. Twelve hundred people die in road accidents every year.
Sixty percent of its population lives in slums [which the government has abolished by calling them instead JJ (Juggi-Jhompari) clusters or unauthorised colonies].
Save the Yamuna
Delhi RapeIt has lost 25% of its green lungs – the Ridge – in the last fifteen years to construction, mining and encroachment by the same Davos types mentioned earlier.
The Yamuna is, scientifically speaking, no longer a river but a drain – only 5% of its total length lies in Delhi but this city contributes to 80% of its pollution: when the river leaves Delhi it is organically dead.
It is scientifically proved that species evolve to suit – and better confront their external environment. That is exactly what the honey badgers of Delhi are doing.
Delhi’s environment has been continuously changing for the last thousand years or so – don’t forget that today’s Delhi is the seventh city on this site.
From being the centre of Mughal culture, British imperialism and old world gentility it has now become some kind of smorgasbord of the worst qualities of its neighbouring states, the arrogance of power, the corrupting influence of money, and the unruliness of millions of migrants who have no stakes in the city.
You just can’t afford to give a shit here.
Next month, to commemorate the completion of three years of my stay here, I propose to take out that honey badger T-shirt and proudly don it (the AAM AADMI cap will have to wait a bit longer).
I’ve earned the privilege of being a honey badger.

Hussain Sagar is a lake in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah. It was 5.7 square kilometres built on a tributary of the River Musi to meet the water and irrigation needs of the city. There is a large monolithic statue of the Gautam Buddha in the middle of the lake which was erected in 1992. At the end of the Hussain Sagar one can find the Masjid and Dargah of Sayedani Maa Tomb.

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE

SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE

The concept of Life-Span implies that there is an Individual whose existence has a definite beginning and end. The human body develops from a Single, fertilized Egg Cell called Zygote which is produced by the union of a male sex cell called sperm and a female sex cell called egg. Human life includes clearly distinguishable stages such as infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. From the instant called conception, human organism grows and develops continuously to enter adulthood at age 20. At about the age of 25, the progressive developmental changes are completed. While there are individualistic variations in the aging process, most human beings can be identified to be living in a condition called old age by the time they attain the ago of 80-years. The exact duration of human life is unknown. Guinness World Records has verified the age claims of old, living persons in the world and the highest authenticated human age is 122 years.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: FRENCH WOMAN JEANNE CALMENT COULD BE THE OLDEST PERSON TO HAVE LIVED. SHE DIED IN 1997 AT THE AGE OF 122 YEARS THAT IS VERIFIED BY THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS.

There could be a maximum life-span for the human race that is established in the human genome. To account for human longevity, it could be important to study all the human records. In that exploration of written human records of human longevity, I have studied Bible, particularly The Old Testament Book of GENESIS which is recognized as The First Book of Moses. Bible derives information concerning the inheritance of longevity from the study of the genealogical records of Hebrew people such as Adam, Noah, and Abraham. In my view, the statements concerning the age at death of Hebrew people cannot be dismissed as religious fiction.
THE BIBLICAL RECORD OF HUMAN LIFE-SPAN:
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE OLD TESTAMENT BOOK OF GENESIS IS A WRITTEN RECORD OF THE LIFE-SPAN OF HEBREW PEOPLE. HUMAN HISTORY AND THE RECORDS OF HUMAN LONGEVITY BEGIN WITH THE CREATION OF ADAM AND EVE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN. THE HEBREW WORD ADAM MEANS MAN.

There is no evidence to suggest that the span of human life has increased since the beginning of recorded history. Advances in Medical Science and the understanding of the principles of nutrition, sanitation, environmental hygiene, and disease prevention have contributed to a remarkable increase in the life expectancy of the general population. However, there is no valid reason to make a similar claim about human life-span. On the contrary, the Hebrew record of human longevity depicts a sudden, and dramatic drop in the expected span of human life.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE BIBLICAL LIFE-SPANS OF ADAM TO JACOB PROVIDE A VERY INTERESTING CONTRAST BETWEEN THE HEBREW PEOPLE WHO LIVED BEFORE THE EPIC FLOOD AND AFTER THE FLOOD.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE BIBLICAL LIFE-SPANS OF ADAM TO JACOB PROVIDE A VERY INTERESTING CONTRAST BETWEEN THE HEBREW PEOPLE WHO LIVED BEFORE THE EPIC FLOOD AND AFTER THE FLOOD.
The Biblical Record of man’s creation and his mortality reveal that the LORD God Creator played a crucial, and decisive role to change the length of the human life-span while external factors like food, and environment could easily tilt the balance in the direction of everlasting life or premature death. I would like to briefly go over a few details about the recorded life histories of Adam, Noah, and Abraham who was originally known as Abram. Genesis, Chapter 5 claims that Adam at the age of 130 years, had a son named Seth. Adam lived for another 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years and then he died(Genesis 5:5).

IN THE HEBREW RECORD OF HUMAN HISTORY, METHUSELAH, THE GRANDFATHER OF NOAH, LIVED THE LONGEST LIFE POSSIBLE FOR ANY HUMAN BEING. HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE AGING PROCESS, BUT HIS LIFE VIGOR ENDURED OLD AGE UNTIL HE ATTAINED THE MATURE AGE OF 969 YEARS.

HOLLYWOOD ACTOR RUSSELL CROWE ENACTED THE ROLE OF NOAH IN THE MOVIE TITLED NOAH.
Methuselah(grandfather of Noah) lived 969 years and then died(Genesis 5:27). It is an interesting fact for he had lived longer than Adam who was created by God, and longer than Noah with whom God made His Covenant to defend all Life that lives on planet Earth(Genesis 9:17). The father of Noah, Lamech altogether lived 777 years(Genesis 5:31). After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. However, the LORD God Creator makes a very dramatic decision and said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal, his days will be a hundred and twenty years.”(Genesis 6:3) It appears that God had expelled Adam from the Garden of Eden and had condemned Adam to lead a mortal existence. But, at that time, God made no decision about human life-span. During the lifetime of Noah, God had announced a predetermined human life-span and had fixed it as 120 years. Noah was six hundred years old when the “FLOOD” waters came on Earth(Genesis 7:6). Noah survived the “FLOOD” and God made a Covenant with Noah and it extends to all life on the Earth. Yet the same time, God makes no concession, and made no mention about the life-span which was fixed at 120 years. In this account of Hebrew life histories, the author was not making any attempt to increase or decrease the life-spans of the Biblical characters to show any individualistic preferences. The Book of Genesis traces the genealogy of Abraham(originally called Abram) after the death of Noah at the age of 950 years. The reproductive vigor continued to survive the aging process and Terah after living for 70 years, became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran(Genesis 11:26). And Terah, (father of Abram) lived 205 years and died(Genesis 11:32) and the Book of Genesis offers no further explanation for the shortened life-span of Terah. But, the life history of Terah is highly relevant for he had lived longer than Abraham with whom God made a Covenant and told him, “You, however will go to your fathers in peace, and be buried at a good old age.”(Genesis 15:15)
THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE:
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE HEBREW RECORD OF HUMAN LIFE HISTORY IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT DOCUMENT. LORD GOD CREATOR MADE SEVERAL PROMISES TO ABRAHAM, AND MOST PARTICULARLY THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE. GOD'S DECISION ABOUT MAN'S MORTALITY AND THE HUMAN LIFE-SPAN REMAINED THE SAME. THIS FACT BECOMES ABUNDANTLY CLEAR WHEN WE COMPARE THE LIFE-SPANS OF ABRAHAM WITH THAT OF TERAH HIS FATHER.
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE HEBREW RECORD OF HUMAN LIFE HISTORY IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT DOCUMENT. LORD GOD CREATOR  MADE SEVERAL PROMISES TO ABRAHAM, AND MOST PARTICULARLY THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE. GOD’S DECISION ABOUT MAN’S MORTALITY AND THE HUMAN LIFE-SPAN REMAINED THE SAME AS REVEALED IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS, CHAPTER 6, VERSE #3.. THIS FACT BECOMES ABUNDANTLY CLEAR WHEN WE COMPARE THE LIFE-SPANS OF ABRAHAM WITH THAT OF TERAH HIS FATHER.
The relationship between age and longevity becomes very vivid in the life history of Abraham. He was fully aware of his old age and knew that he was childless and it could be impossible to have his own offspring  with his wife Sarah while both of them had already experienced the effects of old age. Abraham had a son named Ishmael through his wife’s maid-servant and was ninety-nine years old when he got circumcised. Eventually, Abraham’s wife Sarah became pregnant and bore a son who was named Issac. After Sarah’s death, Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah(Genesis 25:1). Around the same time, Abraham’s son Issac had already reached the age of reproductive maturity and married Rebekkah. Abraham had several children with his second wife and it clearly demonstrates the fact of being in good health in his old age. Altogether, Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years, and he was gathered to his people(Genesis 25:7-8).
THE BIBLICAL THEORY ON AGING:
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE - THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE BIBLICAL THEORY ON AGING BECOMES CLEAR IN THE NEW TESTAMENT BOOK OF REVELATION, CHAPTER 1, VERSE #14 IN WHICH JESUS CHRIST IS PORTRAYED WITH THE HAIR OF OLD AGE; "HIS HEAD AND HAIR WERE WHITE LIKE WOOL AS WHITE AS SNOW, AND HIS EYES WERE LIKE BLAZING FIRE."
SPIRITUALITY SCIENCE – THE PROMISE OF GOOD OLD AGE: THE BIBLICAL THEORY ON AGING BECOMES CLEAR IN THE NEW TESTAMENT BOOK OF REVELATION, CHAPTER 1, VERSE #14 IN WHICH JESUS CHRIST IS PORTRAYED WITH THE HAIR OF OLD AGE; “HIS HEAD AND HAIR WERE WHITE LIKE WOOL AS WHITE AS SNOW, AND HIS EYES WERE LIKE BLAZING FIRE.”
In the Book of Genesis, God created Adam as an adult and had blessed him and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. From that time, God instituted the universal Principle of Generation in which human reproduction is achieved by the union of an egg cell and sperm cell. From the moment called conception, the human organism uses an aging process to grow and to develop into a human being. If God had not driven Adam and Eve out of The Garden of Eden, they would still be living on Earth for they would have surely eaten from “The Tree of Life.” To ensure man’s mortality, Adam was permanently banished from The Garden of Eden and yet he lived a long life. The aging process may eventually lead to death, but God had apparently changed His mind, and made a decision to limit the human life-span without exclusively depending upon the aging process which undermines man’s ability to live a long, fruitful life. This interpretation is supported by The New Testament Book of REVELATION, Chapter 1, verse #14 in which Jesus Christ is portrayed with the characteristic gray hair of old age; “His head and hair were white like wool as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.” Jesus Christ took a human birth and may be experiencing an aging process even after the fact of his Resurrection after death. However, the aging process cannot undermine the Longevity of Jesus Christ for God has promised man an everlasting life through belief in Christ.

STUMBLE UPON COMBINATION RUG-COFFEE TABLE..WOW !

Stumble Upon Combination Rug-Coffee Table 1
Yeah, this is some original thinking going on right here. Like, who would’ve ever seen a carpet unfurling in their living room and said, “Stop! What if we made a coffee table out of that unflattened section?” No one… until now.
Stumble Upon is the name of this combination rug and coffee table from the creative mind and hands of Italian designer Alessandro Isola. It might not be ideal for the obsessive compulsive homeowner, but for everyone else it oozes style. We don’t know too much else about this creation, other than that it looks gorgeous. From Isola’s site: “Stumble Upon consists of a single sheet that provides two surfaces at differing levels. For comfort and function the material choice of these two surfaces creates a sharp contrast between the top part of the rug and the underlay. The top gives the sense it has been hand made with beautiful imperfections and the under laying material is a perfectly smooth surface.”
